Q. Can I make something from your fabric?
A. Yes. I can use your fabric to make nearly anything, depending on the size and condition of the fabric. Pillowcases are the most common, but tote bags are also great. Examples would be: the clothing of someone passed, your now-adult kid's baby blanket, your favorite ripped shirt, grandma's tablecloth, etc. Message me.
Q. Can I make something using your picture?
A. Coming soon. There will be a few options. If you send me an image, I may be able to:
Dye sub it onto fabric to create a single printed image that is less than 12" x 12". Custom images are limited to basic pouches, 12" pillow covers, 12"x19" (lumbar) pillow covers. This is great for personalized gifts. Think photographs, song lyrics, maps, album covers, poster art, kids' drawings, etc. Images are printed onto white or ivory polyester or poly-cotton-blend fabric.
Repeat your image (logo or signature, etc.) to create a pattern, which can be used to sew just about anything.
Q. The site has some things with copywritten images on them. What's up with that?
A. All currently-copywritten images are on fabric that is OFFICIALLY LICENSED. I DO NOT print copywritten images of ANY type. I find and buy material that has those images on them already, like thrifted licensed bed sheets or clothing.
I do, however, print images whose copyright has expired, (Max Fleischer, medieval art, etc.), as well as AI art I create myself.
* When someone uses an image of a currently-copywritten character (Disney, Marvel, etc.), on something they intend to sell for profit (tumblers, t-shirts, etc.), it's ILLEGAL.
So yeah, 90% of Etsy is blatant copyright infringement.
Q. These aren't cheap. What, exactly, am I paying for?
A. You're paying for the lengthy, multi-step, in-person process that all upcycling sewists go through, yet buyers don't think about.
You're paying for the time, travel and money to source the fabrics, the fabric itself, and the time and energy to soak, wash, dry, disassemble, and iron the fabrics.
You're paying for the time and energy to measure and cut out patterned pieces, (and possibly print out and dye sublimate custom panels), to assemble and sew multiple pieces, as well as adding zippers, grommets, lacing, handles, studs, or other hardware.
You're paying for the time and energy to measure and photograph your item and add it to the inventory. To then write a description for it, and upload it all to sales and social media platforms.
You're paying for the time and energy to pack your sold item, print out shipping labels, and send it out to you.
Q. What does 'discrepancies in the fabric' mean?
A. It means that the fabric used to make your item was originally sewn into something else. If it was disassembled (stitches were unpicked and thread removed), it may show signs of previous stitching, there may be tiny areas of uneven stitching, or there may be some tiny discolorations or other imperfections. I assure you that if there are any instances like that, they are inconspicuous, merely cosmetic, and won't interfere with the overall look or function of the item.
* The awesomeness of having something upcycled and handmade is that it's not perfectly perfect. But neither are you, and you're pretty damn awesome.
Q. Do I ship to countries other than the US?
A. No, not at this time.
Q. How long will it take to receive a custom order.
A. Between 3 and 4 weeks after I receive the image or fabric. Oftentimes sooner.
Q. Will I send the unused custom-order fabric back to you?
A. If you want it back, absolutely.
Q. Do I sell locally (Colorado)?
A. Not yet.
Q. Do I sell pillow inserts?
A. Nope. But you can buy inserts on Amazon, Walmart, or any bedding store. The sizes are mentioned in the descriptions.
